HomeMy WebLinkAbout9809ORDINANCE NO. 9809 AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING ANY AND ALL BURNING OF TRASH AND RUBBISH IN A CONGESTED DISTRICT WITHIN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, WHICH BOUNDARIES ARE: SOUTH ON McLEAN TO FOURTH STREETS, WEST ON FOURTH TO SCOTT STREETS, SOUTH ON SCOTT TO FIFTH STREETS, WEST ON FIFTH TO BROADWAY STREETS, NORTH ON BROADWAY TO THE ARKANSAS RIVER, AND EAST ALONG THE ARKANSAS RIVER TO McLEAN STREET; ESTAB- LISHING A PENALTY THEREFOR; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. _F _IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. Definition of a Congested District. A con- gested district is an area containing buildings of high value, constructed closely together, from which a fire might spread rapidly and endanger the lives of the citizens of Little Rock. SECTION 2. That any and all burning of trash and rubbish in a congested district within the City of Little Rock, which boundaries are: South on McLean to Fourth Streets, West on Fourth to Scott Streets, South on Scott to Fifth Streets, West on Fifth to Broadway Streets, North on Broadway to the Arkansas River, and East along the Arkansas River to McLean Street, is hereby prohibited by the City of Little Rock. SECTION 3. That any person who violates the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not less than Twenty - Five ($25.00) Dollars, nor more than One Hundred ($100.00) Dol- lars. Each and every violation of the provisions of this ordi- nance shall constitute a separate offense. SECTION 4. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed; and, unless the pro- visions of this ordinance are placed in effect immediately, the health and safety of the citizens of Little Rock will be affected; therefore, an emergency is declared to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
