ORDINANCE NO. 9812
AN ORDINANCE CONDEMNING AS STRUCTURAL, FIRE OR HEALTH
HAZARDS HOUSES IN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, DIRECTING
THE CITY ATTORNEY TO TAKE SUCH ACTION AS IS NECESSARY
TO HAVE SAID HOUSES CONDEMNED BY THE COURTS AND ORDER
RAZED BY THE OWNERS OR, UPON THEIR FAILURE TO DO SO,
OBTAINING AN ORDER AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY
OF LITTLE ROCK TO RAZE SUCH HOUSES AND PLACE A LIEN
FOR THE COST OF SUCH ACTION UPON THE LOT FROM WHICH
THE HOUSE IS REMOVED, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, in many parts of the City of Little Rock owners
of real property have allowed such property to become run down,
dilapidated, unsafe, unsightly, dangerous, obnoxious, and detri-
mental to the public welfare of the citizens of the City of
Little Rock; and
WHEREAS, the condition of this property is a serious
structural, fire or health hazard; and
WHEREAS, immediate action is necessary to remedy this situa-
tion and such property should be razed either by the owner or by
the City of Little Rock.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That owners of the following described property
be and are hereby ordered to remove or raze buildings upon said
property within thirty (30) days from the effective date of this
ordinance.
SECTION 2. That said property is described as follows,
giving the street address, legal description, and the condition
of the said property:

SECTION 3. That the City Attorney is hereby directed to
institute such legal proceedings against such persons as may be
necessary in order to enforce the provisions of this ordinance,
and to remedy the dangerous and unsightly conditions brought
about as a result of the failure of the owner to properly keep
up said property.
SECTION 4. That said legal proceedings shall provide that
unless the house is razed within a certain period, to be allowed
by the Court, that the City of Little Rock be authorized to raze
said property and have a lien upon the real estate for the cost
of removing said house.

SECTION 5. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed and, unless the pro-
visions of this ordinance are put into effect immediately, the
public peace, health and safety of the people of Little Rock
will be adversely affected; therefore, an emergency is hereby
declared to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage and approval.
