HomeMy WebLinkAbout10232ir ORDINANCE NO. 10,232 AN ORDINANCE ORDERING THE RAZING AND REMOVAL OF A BUILDING LOCATED AT 111 NORTH MAIN STREET, DESCRIBED AS PARTS OF LOTS 7 & 89 BLOCK 1 OF THE ORIGINAL CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, AND DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO TAKE SUCH STEPS NECESSARY TO ACCOMPLISH THE RESULTS DESIRED, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the property located at 111 No. Maim Street, has become unsafe, unsightly, dangerous, obnox- ious, and detrimental to the welfare of the citizens of the City of Little Rock; AND WHEREAS, the condition of this property is a serious fire, health, and structural hazard and that, unless immediate action is taken to remedy this situa- tion, there is great liklihood that the surrounding property will be destroyed by fire originating in such unsafe and hazardous structures or that the buildings will collapse; and it is also dangerous to the health and safety of the citizens of Little Rock. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. That the owners of said property of 111 No. Main Street, who are Elmo Walker and W. Raymond Roddy, whose legal description is part of lots 7 & 8, Block 1 of the Original City of Little Rock, Arkansas, are hereby ordered to raze said building upon such prop- erty within 10 days of the effective date of this ordin- ance. SECTION 2. That the City Attorney is hereby direct- ed to institute such legal proceedings against such per- sons as may be necessary in order to efiforce the provis- ions of this ordinance, and to remedy the dangerous and unsightly conditions brought about as a result of failure of the owner to properly keep up the property. SECTION 3. That all ordinances and parts of ordinan- ces in conflict herewith are hereby repealed and, unless the provisions of this ordinance are put into effect immediately, the public peace, health and safety of the - 2 - citizens of Little Rock will be adversely affected; therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
