HomeMy WebLinkAbout19178I OA ORDINANCE NO. 19,178 3 AN ORDINANCE TO DISPENSE WITH THE REQUIREMENT OF 4 COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO 5 ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH MOTOROLA, INC. FOR THE 6 PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF RADIOS FOR THE FIRE 7 DEPARTMENT; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 8 9 WHEREAS, the Fire Department has received a FEMA Fire Grant for the 10 purchase of radios, and 11 WHEREAS, the current radios utilized by the Fire Department are obsolete and 12 cannot be repaired and replacement radios must be compatible with equipment and be 13 able to make the transition to any future digital needs, and 14 WHEREAS, a quote has been received from Motorola, Inc. to provide state -of- 15 the -art radios that can be updated in the future to accommodate the new digital system 16 which is to be citywide, and 17 WHEREAS, competitive bidding should be waived and the contract for such 18 equipment awarded to Motorola, Inc. as the sole source provider of the type of radio 19 equipment required by the Fire Department 20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS 21 OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 22 Section 1. The Board of Directors finds that competitive bidding should be 23 dispensed with in the purchase of radio equipment for the Little Rock Fire Department, 24 as an exceptional situation exists and competitive bidding is impractical and infeasible. 25 Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to dispense with competitive 26 bidding and to enter into a contract with Motorola, Inc. for the purchase and [PAGE 1 OF 21 To waive bidding for Fire Department Radios I installation of portable and mobile radios and accessories in the amount of Six Hundred 2 Fourteen Thousand Dollars ($614,000.00), for the Little Rock Fire Department. 3 Section 3. Funding for this purchase shall be from a $429,800.00 FEMA Fire 4 Grant, with the remaining $184,200.00 match to be from 2004 Bond Issue funds. 5 Section 4. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, 6 clause, phrase, or word of this ordinance is declared or adjudged to be invalid or 7 unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining 8 portions of the ordinance which shall remain in full force and effect as if the portion so 9 declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional was not originally a part of the 10 ordinance. 11 Section 5. Repealer.
