AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY
OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, TO PUBLISH THE NOTICE OF ELECTION,
THE PROCLAMATION CALLING FOR SAID ELECTION, AND A COPY OF ACT
NO. 99 OF 1921 AS AMENDED, IN NEWSPAPERS PUBLISHED IN THE CITY
AS REQUIRED BY LAW; PROVIDNG FOR THE PAYMENT OF COST OF SAID
PUBLICATION BY THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY;
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Chancery Judge Sam Rorex, First Judicial District
has declared the proclamation of October 10, 1956, issued by the Mayor
of the City of Little Rock, calling a special election to be held
November 6, 1956, to be valid; and
WHEREAS, to comply with the provisions of Act 99 of 1921 as
amended, it is necessary that the proclamation, the Act, and the Notice
of Election be published in newspapers in the City of Little Rock.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LITTLE`ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas,
is hereby authorized and directed to publish the proclamation calling the
election, the copy of Act No. 99 of 1921 as amended, and the notice of
election, said cost of publication to be paid by the City of Little Rock.
SECTION 2. That all ordinances and parto of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed, and, unless the provisions of this ordinance
are put into effect immediately, the public peace, health, and safety of
the citizens of the City of Little Rock will be adversely affected; there-
fore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this ordinance shall
be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
