RESOLUTION NO. 11,850
3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO
4 EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH ACE USA INSURANCE
5 COMPANY TO PROVIDE ACCIDENTAL DEATH AND
6 DISMEMBERMENT INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR CITY
7 EMPLOYEES; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

9 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock provides basic Accidental Death and
10 Dismemberment coverage to all regular full -time City employees and, additionally,
11 offers employees the opportunity to purchase a voluntary AD &D policy through
12 payroll deduction, and
13 WHEREAS, in September, 2004, a request for proposal was issued for these
14 policies, and ACE USA Insurance Company was the only provider submitting a
15 proposal which would match exactly the current benefit structure, and
16 WHEREAS, ACE USA Insurance Company also agreed to maintain the current
17 premium rate for both basic and voluntary coverage with a two -year guarantee on
18 those rates.
19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
20 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
21 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with ACE
22 USA Insurance Company to provide the basic AD &D coverage provided by the City to
23 all regular full -time employees and the voluntary AD &D coverage available to such
24 employees through payroll deduction, for a two -year period effective January 1, 2005.
25 Section 2. Funds for the cost of the coverage are included as a line item in the
26 2005 City budget.

Section 3. Severability. In the event any portion of this resolution is declared or
adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not
affect the remaining portions of this resolution, which shall remain in full force and
effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional was not
originally a part of this resolution.
Section 4. Repealer. All ordinances and resolutions, and parts thereof, which
are in conflict with any provision of this resolution are hereby repealed to the extent of
such conflict.
