AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE "HOUSING CODE OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS" FILED IN THE OFFICE OF THE
LITTLE ROCK CITY CLERK ON OCTOBER 21, 1957, BY THE LITTLE ROCK
HOUSING CODE COMMITTEE, WHICH CODE PRESCRIBES MINIMUM STANDARDS
FOR THE SAFE AND HEALTHFUL OCCUPANCY OF DWELLINGS; AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, in the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, there
are, or in the future may be, dwelling structures which are so
dilapidated, unsafe, dangerous, unhygienic, or unsanitary, as
to constitute a menace to the health and safety of the people
of this city;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Adoption of Housing Code of the City of
Little Rock, Arkansas.
There is hereby adopted by the City Council of the
City of Little Rock, Arkansas, for the purpose of prescribing
minimum standards for the safe and healthful occupancy of
dwellings, that certain Housing Code of the City of Little Rock,
Arkansas, prepared by the Little Rock Housing Code Committee
appointed and acting pursuant to Resolution No. 2103 adopted
by this Council on June 4, 1956, no less than three copies of
which Code have been, on October 21, 1957, and now are filed
in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Little Rock, and
said Housing Code is hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as
if set out at length herein, and from and after the date on which
this Ordinance shall take effect, the provisions of said Code
shall be controlling within the limits of the City of Little
Rock; provided,however, that the administration and enforcement
of said Code shall be pursuant to the provisions of such Ordinance
as may hereafter be passed by the governing body of this City.

SECTION 2. Repeal of Conflicting Ordinances.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
with the provisions of this ordinance or of the Code hereby
adopted, except as provided in said Code, are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. Validity.
If any section, part of section, clause or phrase
of this Ordinance or of the Code hereby adopted shall be held
invalid for any reason, such holding shall not affect the
validity of other sections, parts of sections, clauses or
phrases not held invalid.
SECTION 4. Effective Date.
This Ordinance and the Code hereby adopted shall take
effect one (1) year from the date of passage of this Ordinance.
