HomeMy WebLinkAbout135841 RESOLUTION NO. 13,584 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO REPEAL RESOLUTION NO. 13,554; TO 4 AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT 5 WITH FISHNET SECURITY FOR THE PURCHASE OF NEW 6 FIREWALL HARDWARE AND FOR THE PURCHASE OF RELATED 7 TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND SOFTWARE MAINTENANCE FOR THE 8 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF 9 SIXTY -THREE THOUSAND, FIVE HUNDRED TWENTY -ONE 10 DOLLARS AND THIRTY -TWO CENTS ($63,521.32), PLUS APPLICABLE 11 TAX; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 12 13 WHEREAS, the City's Firewalls act as a virtual wall that separates the City's Network, which is a 14 trusted environment, from a non - trusted environment, such as the Internet, by controlling and regulating 15 the traffic between the two environments, thereby protecting the City's Network and its resources from 16 unauthorized access; and, 17 WHEREAS, a Request for Proposals was issued for the purchase of new Firewall hardware, 18 technical support, and related software maintenance for the City's two (2) primary Firewalls and the 19 Firewall located at the Special Investigation Division of the Police Department, and FishNet Security was 20 the only vendor to submit a bid; and, 21 WHEREAS, the Board of Directors adopted Resolution No. 13,554 to authorize a contract for the 22 purchase of Firewall hardware, support services and related software maintenance pursuant to the City's 23 RFP No. 12264; however, the City was unable to enter a contract with FishNet Security due to the fact 24 that the necessary hardware had not been included in the vendor's bid proposal; and, 25 WHEREAS, pursuant to the reissued Request for Proposals No. 12264R, FishNet Security submitted 26 the lowest responsive bid for the required hardware, technical support services and one (]) -year of 27 software maintenance in the total amount of Sixty-Three Thousand, Five Hundred Twenty-One and 28 32/100 Dollars ($63,521.32), plus applicable tax; 29 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 30 OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 31 Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby repeals Resolution No. 13,554 in its entirety, and 32 authorizes the City Manager to enter into a contract with FishNet Security to purchase new Firewall 33 hardware for three Firewalls, related technical support services, and one (1) -year of software [Page 1 of 21 1 maintenance, in the total amount of Sixty -Three Thousand, Five Hundred Twenty -One and 32/100 2 Dollars ($63,521.32), plus applicable tax. 3 Section 2. Funds for the purchase of Firewall hardware and technical support services in the amount 4 of Forty Thousand, Nine Hundred Forty-Five Dollars ($40,945.00), plus taxes are available from the 5 City's new operational sales tax, and funds for the purchase of related software maintenance in the 6 amount of Twenty -Two Thousand, Five Hundred Seventy -Six and 32/100 Dollars ($22,576.32), plus tax 7 are available from Information Technology's budgeted software maintenance account. 8 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 9 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 10 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and 11 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 12 resolution. 13 Section 4. Repealer.
