AN ORDINANCE'AMENDING SECTION 10 OF ORDINANCE NO. 109783
BY CREATING TWO (2) ADDITIONAL POSITIONS OF LIEUTENANT IN
THE LITTLE ROCK POLICE DEPARTMENT; REDUCING THE NUMBER
OF SERGEMTS IN SAID DEPARTMENT TO TWENTY -ONE (21); ESTAB-
LISHING THE SALARY THEREFOR; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND
FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. There is hereby created two (2) additional
positions of Lieutenant in the Little Rock Police Department,
the salary for which is hereby established in accordance with
provisions of Ordinance No. 10,783 of the City of Little Rock,
Arkansas.
SECTION 2. The number of Sergeants in the Police Depart-
meet is hereby reduced from twenty -three (23) to twenty -one (21).
SECTION 3. That Section 10 of Ordinance No. 10,783 which
among other things provides for eight (8) positions of Lieutenant
in the Little Rock Police Department is hereby amended in part
to provide for ton (10) positions of Lieutenant as follows:
"SALARY RANGES AND RATES BY CLASSIFICATION
NUMBER
EMPLOYEES CLASS TITLE 1 2 3 Maximum
10 Lieutenants $317.00 $322.00 $337.00 $351.00"
SECTION 4. That Section 10 of Ordinance No. 10,783 which
among other things provides for twenty -three (23) positions of
Sergeants in the Little Rock Police Department is hereby amended
in part to provide for twenty -one (21) positions of Sergeants
as follows:
"SALARY RANGES AND RATES BY CLASSIFICATION

$300.00 $305.00 $320.00 $333.00"
SECTION 5. It has been determined that the lack of an

adequate number of supervisory personnel in the Police Depart-
ment of Little Rock causes a situation whereby the citizenry
of the City are not adequately protected; and that this
ordinance will increase the number of supervisory personnel
within the Police Department of the said City and thereby
reduce the said hazard therein; therefore, an emergency is
hereby declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary
for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety,
shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
and approval; and all ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
