AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 17 A (1), 17 B (3), 17 B (4),
AND 17 B (9) OF ORDINANCE NO. 10,882, SAME BEING:
"AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AND ADOPTING THE BUDGET
FOR THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, FOR THE TWELVE
(12) MONTH PERIOD BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1959, AND
ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1959; APPROPRIATING MONEY FOR
EACH AND EVERY ITEM OF EXPENDITURE THEREIN PROVIDED
FOR; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST; AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.";
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Section 17 A (1) of Ordinance No. 10,882, same
being: "An ordinance providing for and adopting the budget for
the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, for the twelve (12) month
period beginning January 1, 1959, and ending December 31, 1959;
appropriating money for each and every item of expenditure there-
in provided for; declaring an emergency to exist; and for other
purposes.`, is hereby amended to read as follows:

SECTION 4. Section 17 B (9) of Ordinance No. 10,882 is hereby
amended to read as follows:

SECTION 5. It has been determined that the existing ordinances
of the City of Little Rock do not provide for an adequate number
of District Chiefs in the Fire Department to facilitate proper and
efficient supervision in the said Department which creates a condi-
tion detrimental to the public peace, health and safety of the
citizenry of the said City; that this ordinance increasing the
number of District Chiefs in the Fire Department will substantially
correct the said evil; now therefore, an emergency is hereby de-
clared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the pre-
servation of public peace, health and safety shall be in full
force and effect from and after its passage and approval; and all
ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are here-
by repealed.
