AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 43 A (1), 43 A (2), 43 B (12)
AND 43 C (2) b OF ORDINANCE NO. 10,882, SAME BEING:
" AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AND ADOPTING THE BUDGET
FOR THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, FOR THE TWELVE (12)
MONTH PERIOD BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1959, AND ENDING
DECEMBER 31, 1959; APPROPRIATING MONEY FOR EACH AND
EVERY ITEM OF EXPENDITURE THEREIN PROVIDED FOR; DE-
CLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.11;
BY PROVIDING FOR THE EMPLOYMENT OF TEN (10) ADDITIONAL PATROL-
MEN IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT;-DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND
FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Section 43 A (1) and Section 43 A (2) of Ordinance
No. 10,882, same being: "An ordinance providing for and adopting
the budget for the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, for the twelve
(12) month period beginning January 1, 1959, and ending December
31, 1959; appropriating money for each and every item of expendi-
ture therein provided for; declaring an emergency to exist; and
for other purposes. ", is hereby amended to read as follows:

amended to read as follows:

SECTION 4. It has been determined that the existing ordinances
of the City of Little Rock do not provide for an adequate number
of patrolmen to assure the citizenry of Little Rock of complete
and adequate police protection, which condition is detrimental
to the public peace, health and safety; that this ordinance by
increasing the number of patrolmen in the Police Department will
substantially correct the said condition; now therefore, an emer-
gency is hereby.declared to exist and this ordinance being neces-
sary for the preservation of public peace, health and safety shall
be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval;
and all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed.
