AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND ACCEPTING THE ANNEXATION
TO THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, OF CERTAIN
LANDS KNOWN AS "THE VILLAGE SHOPPING CENTER ".
WHEREAS, the County Court of Pulaski County, Arkansas, entered its
Order on October 26, 1959, upon the Petition of the sole real estate owner of t
property affected after due notice of hearing on said Petition for the time and
in the manner prescribed by law, ordering the annexation of the following de-
scribed lands located in Pulaski County, Arkansas:
From a point which is the southwest corner of the
SWk SWk, Section 18, T -1 -N, R -13 -W, thence east
715.5 feet along the south line of Section 18,
also the present city limits line, thence north
10 37' west 300 feet to the point of beginning,
thence north 10 37' west 1,620 feet along a line
715.5 east and parallel to the west line of the
SWk SWk, Section 18, T -1-N; thence west along
the north right -of -way line generally of Old U.S.
Highway 67 approximately 625 feet to the present
city limits; thence south 50 21' east along the
present city limits, approximately 600 ft. to a
point; thence south 840 39' east 150 feet thence
south 50 21' west 200 ft; thence north 84 39' west
150 feet; thence south 50 21' west 250 feet; thence
south 840 39' east 200 feet; thence south 50 21'
west 200 feet; thence south 560 .07 minutes east
640 feet to the point of beginning.
This description excludes a tract 150 ft. x 200
ft. which is incorporated in the above description.
WHEREAS, more than thirty (30) days have elapsed since the entry
of said Order of the County Court of Pulaski County, Arkansas, and no person,
firm, corporation or organization whatever has instituted any proceedings in
the Circuit Court of Pulaski County, Arkansas, or elsewhere, to prevent such
annexation, and no protestants have appeared and no notice has been given to
the authorities of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, of any attempt to vacate,
review, set aside, or appeal the said Order of the County Court; and
WHEREAS, said above described lands are contiguous to and adjoin
the City of Little Rock, Arkansas:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, acting through
this Board of Directors and the City Manager, does hereby approve the annexation
of, and does hereby accept and make a part of the incorporated area of the City
of Little Rock, Arkansas, all of the lands described hereinbefore in this
Ordinance; and that said lands be and are hereby assigned and attached to the
4th Ward of this City.
Section 2. It is further ordered that when two copies of the
proceedings of the Pulaski County Court in this annexation matter have been pre.
pared and duly certified by the Pulaski County Clerk, one copy of said proceed-
ings shall be delivered to the Little Rock City Clerk for filing and the
other copy, together with a certified copy of this Ordinance, shall be deliverer
to and filed with the Secretary of State of the State of Arkansas, pursuant to
and in compliance with Arkansas Statutes Annotated (1947) as set out therein in
Section 19 -305.
Section 3. That it is hereby ascertained and declared that it is
necessary to immediately bring the above described lands within the bounds of
the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, in order to qualify the valuable improvement
thereon to city, fire and police protection and to bestow the advantages cf an
incorporated city to the owners and operators of the businesses situated on suc
lands, it is, therefore, declared that an emergency exists and this Ordinance,
being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety,
shall be in force and shall be in effect immediately upon passage and approval
hereunder.
