AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ARKANSAS FOUNDRY COMPANY TO ERECT
AND MAINTAIN A STEEL BRIDGE RUNNING IN AN EASTERLY AND WESTERLY
DIRECTION OVER AND ACROSS THOMAS STREET, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY,
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the Arkansas Foundry Company is the owner of certain properties
located on both the West and East sides of Thomas Street and South of East
Sixth Street, and requests authority to erect a steel bridge across Thomas
Street for the purpose of transporting steel and other allied products to
and from various locations in its plant,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. There is hereby granted to the Arkansas Foundry Company,
a corporation organized and existing under and by virtue of the laws of the
State of Arkansas, with its principal place of business in the City of
Little Rock, Arkansas, its successors and assigns, for a period of ninety -
nine (99) years, from the acceptance of this Ordinance the right and
authority to erect and maintain a steel bridge approximately Fifty -two (52)
feet in length running in an easterly and westerly direction, over and
across Thomas Street, and located approximately Seventy -eight (78) feet
south of the northeast corner of the SE' of the SE-1- of Section Two (2),
Township One (1) North, Range Twelve (12) West, in the City of Little
Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas, the said steel bridge to be used for the
purpose of transporting an overhead crane.
SECTION 2. The bridge shall be of all -steel construction and
supported by steel girders ,56.6 feet apart and 3 feet in depth. The
bottom of said girders shall not be less than Twenty (20) feet above the
existing pavement of Thomas Street. The foundation and support of said
bridge shall be located wholly outside and off of the right of way of
Thomas Street.
SECTION 3. The City of Little Rock retains the right to revoke this
franchise at any time said land is needed for public purposes and the
Arkansas Foundry Company shall be required to remove the improvements from
said area and shall be required to pay all costs attendant with the abandon-
ment and removal of the improvements from the area.
SECTION 4. An emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance
shall take effect and be in force from and after the date of its passage and
approval.
