HomeMy WebLinkAbout13577I 2 RESOLUTION NO. 13,577 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE APPROPRIATION OF $98,700 4 FROM THE PROCEEDS OF THE 3/8 -CENT SALES AND 5 COMPENSATING USE TAX FOR USE BY THE ARKANSAS 6 LIVESTOCK SHOW COMMISSION FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO 7 BARTON COLISEUM; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 8 9 WHEREAS, the Board of Directors previously stated its intention to expend up to three million 10 dollars ($3,000,000) of the 3/8 -Cent Sales and Compensating Use Tax proceeds for the City's efforts to 11 keep the Arkansas State Fair located in Little Rock; and, 12 WHEREAS, the Arkansas Livestock Show Association has announced its intention to keep the fair 13 in Little Rock for the foreseeable future; and, 14 WHEREAS, a request has been made for the City to help with improvements to Barton Coliseum in 15 order to attract events to the Coliseum such as the basketball tournaments which will be held there in 16 2013; and, 17 WHEREAS, this request is to help with improvements to lighting, sound, floor tile repair, dressing 18 room renovation, basketball floor resurfacing, painting, restroom repair, chairs, scoreboard controls, and 19 the remodeling of restrooms; 20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 21 OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 22 Section 1. The amount of Ninety-Eight Thousand Seven Hundred Dollars ($98,700) is hereby 23 appropriated from the proceeds of the 3/8 -cent Sales and Compensating Use Tax for use by the Arkansas 24 Livestock Show Association for repairs and renovation of Barton Coliseum. 25 Section 2. Funds for this appropriation are available in Account No. 326459, Activity TS45A09. 26 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 27 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 28 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and 29 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 30 resolution. 31 Section 4. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent 32 with the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
