ORDINANCE NO. 11,433
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23 -14 OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK TO PROVIDE
FOR CERTAIN ADDITIONAL CHARGES TO PASSENGERS IN
TAXICABS WITHIN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS;
DECLARING'AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE MOCK,
ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Section 23 -14 of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Little Rock is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 23 -14. Same--Receipt for fare; passengers not
chargeable.
Any person, firm, or corporation accepting a fare
for taxicab service in the city shall give to the person
paying the fare, upon request, a receipt evidencing the
payment of said fare, the date thereof, and the signature
of the person to whom the fare is paid.
An additional charge of ten cents (10�) may be made
for- each passenger, who is more than six (6) years of age
and who is a member, of a business or social group on a
joint mission with the person paying the fare.
A charge of twenty -five cents (25¢) may be made for
the dismissal of a taxicab which has responded to a tele-
phone call."
SECTION 2. It is found and determined that an undue and
unnecessary hardship exists insofar as the ownership and operation of
taxicabs within the City of Little Rock, due to an inequitable rate
structure heretofore authorized by Ordinance and that such inequities
can be corrected by this Ordinance; now therefore, an emergency is
hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance being necessary for the
preservation of public peace, health and safety shall be in full
force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
