ORDINANCE NO. 11,683
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 12 -2 OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, BY AMENDING CER-
TAIN SUB - SECTIONS THEREUNDER TO PROVIDE
THAT NON- METALLIC MATERIALS SHALL BE AC-
CEPTABLE FOR CERTAIN PURPOSES; AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Section 12 -2 (b) of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, shall be and is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"(b) All wiring for lights, power and
heat in the defined Fire District and in
theaters, churches, auditoriums, garages,
gasoline filling stations, hotels, office
buildings, school, and other buildings nor-
mally used for public purposes and all apart-
ment buildings comprising four (4) or more
apartments wherever located shall be in-
stalled in approved rigid metal conduit,
steel tube or flexible steel, conduit com-
monly known as Greenfield, approved metal
ducts and metal moldings. (Rigid nonmet-
allic conduit will be permitted as provided
in Article 347 of the National Electrical
Code.)
Flexible steel armored cable, commonly
known as BX cable, will not be permitted
except in old or remodeled apartments or
private dwellings where wiring is to be
concealed and it is necessary to fish wires
to keep from removing or defacing the pre-
sent structure."
SECTION 2. Section 12 -2 (f) of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"(f) All outlets for ceiling or bracket
lights wherever installed shall be fitted
with fixture studs and ears drilled and
tapped and in residence wiring all sw}tah

and outlet boxes shall be of the type known
to the trade as Galvanized or Sheradized and
shall be at lease one and one -half (1i- inches)
inches deep. (Nonmetallic boxes will be per-
mitted, as provided in Article 370 of the
National Electrical Code.)
When necessary outlet boxes shall be
fitted with plaster rings, number of con-
ductors in boxes shall be governed by Ar-
ticle 370 as set forth in the National
Electrical Code."
SECTION 3. Section 12 -2 (u) of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"(u) All multiple meter installations
or service switch banks of four (4) or more
shall be protected by main service fused
switch or breaker. Main switch or breaker
shall be of the approved type."
SECTION 1+. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval.
