HomeMy WebLinkAbout11810ORDINANCE NO. 119810 AN ORDINANCE CONDEMNING A PART OF LOT 8, BLOCK 12, FERNDALE ADDITION IN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, PULASKI COUNTY, ARKANSAS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAKING IMPROVEMENTS IN THE WIDENING AND PAVING OF WOODROW AND SEVENTH STREETS IN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK; DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO INSTITUTE PROPER CONDEMNATION PROCEEDINGS TO CARRY OUT THE INTENT AND PURPOSE HEREOF; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The City of Little Rock does hereby condemn for street right -of -way and drainage purposes, the following des- cribed parcel of real property situated in Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas: The West 10 feet of the North 16.7 feet of Lot 8, Block 12, Ferndale Addition to the City of Little Rock. The aforesaid described property appears to be owned by Wayne Foster. The aforesaid lands are necessary to be utilized in the widening and paving of West Seventh Street and Woodrow Street in the City of Little Rock and to provide the necessary storm drainage and related facilities. SECTION 2. The City Attorney is hereby authorized and directed to file in the proper Court proceedings for the condemn- ation of the properties described in Section 1 hereof, and to secure an order of such Court allowing the City to take immediate possession of the properties described upon its posting bond in an amount to be determined by the Court and to do any and all other things reasonably necessary in obtaining immediate possession of said lands. -2- SECTION 3. WHEREAS, the condition of thoroughfares and related traffic facilities within the City of Little Rock for vehicular traffic and fire protection are inadequate in the area of Woodrow and Seventh Streets thereby causing congestion, lack of access and other problems of vehicular movement through the aforesaid area; and WHEREAS, the proposed improvement and development herein described is designed to relieve the sAid congestion and lack of access thereby enhancing the welfare, health and safety of the citizens of this community; now, therefore, an emergency is hereby found to exist and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of public peace, health and safety shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
