ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, PROVIDING FOR THE ELECTION
OF MUNICIPAL JUDGES AT THE BIENNIAL GENERAL ELECTION
HELD IN EVEN NUMBERED YEARS; REPEALING CONFLICTING
ORDINANCES; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. From and after the effective date of this
Ordinance, and pursuant to the authority of Act No. 388 Acts
of Arkansas of 1961, as amended, Municipal Judges in this City
shall be elected at the biennial general election held in even
numbered years, for a term of four (4) years. The applicable
provisions of Sections 4 and 5 of Act No. 8, Acts of Arkansas
1957, shall be followed in conducting said elections.
SECTION 2. If the term of office of any Municipal Judge
now serving in this City expires prior to the date of the next
following even year general election, he shall continue to hold
his office until his successor is elected and has qualified and
assumed office on January 1st of the year next succeeding the
next even year general election (to be held in the year 1968).
SECTION 3. Ordinance No. 12,035 and all other Ordinances
or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval.
