AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING JOSEPH B. HURST
TO FILL A VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF DIR-
ECTOR ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS; AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Harold E. Henson, Jr. has tendered his resignation
as a member of the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock
effective October 16, 1967 as a result of his planned move beyond
the jurisdiction of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas thus creating
a vacancy on the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Directors to
appoint a legally qualified person to fill the vacancy for the
unexpired term thereof all in accordance with the laws of the State
of Arkansas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. Joseph B. Hurst is hereby appointed as a member
of the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas for
the unexpired term of Harold E. Henson, Jr. which vacancy has been
created by reason of the resignation of said Harold E. Henson, Jr.
effective October 16, 1967.
SECTION 2. The affairs of the City of Little Rock are
such that necessarily require the careful attention of a full member-
ship to the Board of Directors at all times and the vacancy created
by the resignation of Harold E. Henson, Jr. creates an emergency
detrimental to the peace, health and safety of the public generally.
Now, therefore, in order to eliminate said condition an
emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall be
in full force and effect from and after its passage.
SECTION 3. All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in
conflict herewith i-s hereby repealed.
