ORDINANCE NO. 12,310
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A SCHEDULE OF RATES
FOR THE LITTLE ROCK MUNICIPAL WATER WORKS AND
FIXING THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF
Preamble
The authority to operate and maintain the Little Rock
Municipal Water Works is vested in the Board of Water Works
Commissioners, but the authority to establish water rates is
vested in the Board of Directors of the city. By virtue of
state law, rates must be established which are adequate to pay
the principal of and interest on water revenue bonds, to make
payments into the revenue bond sinking fund, to provide an
adequate depreciation fund and to provide the Water Works
Commission's estimate of the cost of operating and maintaining
the system. Under state law, the cost of capital improvements
is to be included in operation and maintenance cost.
After lengthy technical studies, the Board of Water
Works Commissioners has requested the adoption of the rate
increases reflected by this ordinance and has stated that the
increases are necessary to pay for the foregoing items.
Despite the higher cost of service, there has been no water
rate increase since March, 1955.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF
DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. The following schedule of rates is
hereby established for the Little Rock Municipal Water Works:
