ORDINANCE NO. 12,449
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE
CITY MANAGER TO EXERCISE AN OPTION IN FAVOR
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK TO PURCHASE CERTAIN
REAL PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK TO BE
USED BY THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT PRINCIPALLY;
APPROPRIATE THE SUM OF $96,000.00 AS THE PUR-
CHASE PRICE FOR SAID PROPERTY; AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES
WHEREAS, The City of Little Rock has been granted the
option to purchase the following described real property
situated in the City of Little,Rock for a total consideration
of $96,000.00:
Part of the Wz of the W'- of the SA of Section 9,
Township .1 North, Range 12 West, lying East -of
the Chicago Rock Island and Pacific Railroad Right -
of -way and South of Wright Avenue in the City of
Little Rock, Arkansas, and described by metes and
bounds as follows: Begin at the intersection of
the South line of the Wright Avenue viaduct with
the East line of the Chicago Rock Island and Pacific
Railroad Right -of -way; thence Northeast 107 feet;
thence South 150 feet; thence Southwesterly.37 feet;
thence West 74 feet;,thence Northerly along the East
Right -of -way line of the.Chicago Rock Island and
Pacific Railroad Right -of -way 140 feet to the point
of beginning, containing .31 of an acre, more or
less
AND
Part of the NW4 of the SW4 of Section 9 in Township 1
North, Range 12 West, more particularly described as
follows: Begin at a point 25 feet West and 370 feet
South of the Northeast corner of the NW4 of Section 9
in Township 1 North of Range 12 West and run thence
South parallel to the East line of said NW4 of the
SW4 a distance of 275 feet; and along the West side
of Thayer Avenue (formerly Kramer Street); thence run
West 277.7 feet to the East Right -of -way line of the
Chicago Rock Island and Pacific Railroad Right -of-
way; thence run Northwesterly along the said East
Right -of -way line a distance of 281.7 feet; thence
run East 337.7 feet to the Point of Beginning LESS
AND EXCEPT .0516 of an acre of land in the W4 SW4 of
Section 9, Township 1 North, Range 12 West, and des-
cribed as beginning 370 feet South and 25 feet West
of the Northeast corner of the W' SW4 of Section 9,
Township 1 North, Range 12 West; thence West 15 feet;
thence South 15 feet; thence East 15 feet; thence
North 15 feet to the Point of Beginning; and
WHEREAS, it is determined that the said property is now
needed together with the improvements thereon for the purpose

of providing a garage and storage area for Sanitation Department
vehicles and that said property and improvements will adequately
and efficiently serve the needs of the City of Little Rock for
this purpose and it is the desire of the Board of Directors to
exercise said option and purchase said property.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized and dir-
ected, acting for and on behalf of the City Qf Little Rock to
exercise that certain option in favor of the City of Little
Rock now on file in the real estate office of the City of Little
Rock, to purchase from the record owners thereof, that real pro-
perty, together with improvements located thereon hereinabove
described for a total consideration of $96,000.00.
SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated from the unexpended
balance of the General Fund the sum of $97,000.00 to be used for
paying the.purchase price provided for in Section 1 hereof and
such incidental expenses in connection with appraisal fee and
transfer taxes as may be related to this acquisition.
SECTION 3. The City Manager and Director of Finance -are
hereby authorized and directed to issue the necessary warrant or
warrants in payment of the purchase price provided in Section 1
hereof to the person or persons entitled thereto according to
the opinion of the City Attorney so as to vest fee simple title
to said property in the City of Little Rock.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage.
