AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 9768 OF THE
CITY OF LITTLE ROCK; EXCLUDING THE REQUIREMENT
THAT WIRING FOR LIGHTS, POWER, AND HEAT IN
APARTMENT BUILDINGS BE INSTALLED IN APPROVED
RIGID METAL CONDUIT, STEEL TUBE OR FLEXIBLE
STEEL CONDUIT; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ]DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Section 12 -2B of Ordinance No. 9768 of the City
00 of Little Rock is hereby amended to read as follows:

d` "All wiring for lights, power, and heat in the defined fire
districts; and all apartments exceeding two story in height
m (basement not used as residence excluded), theatres, churches,
auditoriums, garages, gasoline filling stations, hotels, of-
fice buildings, schools, and other buildings normally used
for public purposes wherever located, shall be installed in
b approved rigid metal conduit, steel tube, or flexible steel
p conduit, commonly known as Greenfield, approved metal ducts
and metal moldings."

M- SECTION 2. It is the intent of this Ordinance to exclude
apartment buildings, single family residences and townhouses of
two stories or less (basement not used as a residence excluded)
and located outside of the fire districts, from the requirement
of having wiring for lights, power, and hear installed in
approved rigid metal conduit, steel tube, or flexible steel
conduit, commonly known as Greenfield, approved metal ducts and
metal moldings.
SECTION 3. Section 12 -2D of Ordinance No. 9768 of the City
of Little Rock is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Residences and apartments shall be done with wire no smaller
than No. 12 Copper; or No. 10 Copper -clad aluminum wire, or
its equivalent; allowing eight outlets per circuit. However;
kitchens, laundry rooms, and breakfast rooms shall not have
more than two duplex receptacles per circuit installed with
wire not smaller than No. 12 Copper or No. 10 Copper -clad
aluminum wire, or its equivalent. In the absence of break-
fast rooms, the same shall apply to dinettes."
SECTION 4. All Ordinances, or parts of Ordinances, in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

SECTION 5. The Board of Directors has determined that due
to the tremendous amount of construction currently underway in
the City, this ordinance is necessary to insure the peace, health,
and safety, THEREFORE, an emergency is hereby declared to exist,
and this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage and approval.
