ORDINANCE NO. 12,711
AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING
A PORTION OF THE EAST -WEST ALLEY LOCATED WITHIN
BLOCK 1, ORIGINAL CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS
(ALSO KNOWN AS BRIDGE STREET) , IN CONFORMANCE
WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE URBAN RENEWAL PLAN
FOR THE CENTRAL LITTLE ROCK URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT,
PROJECT ARK R -12, AS AMENDED; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, under the provisions of Resolution No. 1003, duly
adopted by the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas,
on December 18, 1961, the Urban Renewal Plan of the Housing Authority
of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, for the Central Little Rock Urban
Renewal Project, Project No. ARK R -12, was formally adopted; and
WHEREAS, said Board of Directors in said Resolution found that
in order to implement and facilitate the effectuation of said Urban Renewal
Plan, certain official action must be taken by the Board of Directors, including
the vacating, abandoning and closing of certain streets, alleys and other public
ways, all as provided for in said Urban Renewal Plan; and
WHEREAS, the objectives of said Urban Renewal Plan, as amended
from time to time since December 18, 1961, have now been sufficiently
attained to require that official action be taken at this time to vacate, abandon
and close a portion of the East -West alley located within Block 1, Original
City of Little Rock, Arkansas (also known as Bridge Street) , said portion of
said alley being no longer needed for corporate purposes; and
WHEREAS, in order to better provide for the public welfare, safety,
comfort and convenience of the general public and the inhabitants of the City
of Little Rock, Arkansas, it is necessary at this time to vacate, abandon and
close a portion of the East -West alley located within Block 1, Original City
of Little Rock, Arkansas (also known as Bridge Street) as more particularly
described hereinafter;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:

Section 1. The City of Little Rock, Arkansas, under its powers as
set forth in Arkansas Statutes 1947 Annotated, Sections 19 -2304, 19 -3029,
and 19 -3817, hereby vacates, abandons and closes a portion of the East -West
alley located within Block 1, Original City of Little Rock, Arkansas (also
known as Bridge Street) , said portion of said alley which is hereby vacated,
abandoned and closed being more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the Northwest corner of Lot 7,
Block 1, Original City of Little Rock, Pulaski
County, Arkansas; thence Easterly along the
North boundary line of said Lot 7 a distance
of 25 feet to the point of beginning; thence
North a distance of 20 feet to a point on the
North right of way line of the East -West alley
located within said Block 1 which is 25 feet
East of the Southwest corner of Lot 6, Block 1,
Original City of Little Rock; thence Easterly
along the North right of way line of said East -
West alley (also known as Bridge Street) a distance
of 250 feet to a point, being a point on the South
boundary line of Lot 1, Block 1, Original City of
Little Rock, 25 feet West of the Southeast corner
thereof; thence South a distance of 20 feet to a
point on the South right of way line of said East -
West alley located within Block 1, Original City
of Little Rock (also known as Bridge Street) , said
point being 25 feet West of the Northeast corner
of Lot 12, Block 1, Original City of Little Rock;
thence West along said South right of way line
of said East -West alley located within Block 1,
Original City of Little Rock (also known as Bridge
Street) a distance of 250 feet to the point of begin-
ning and containing 5,000 square feet, more or less.
And the City of Little Rcc k, Arkansas hereby relinquishes unto the adjoining
landowner on the South side of said East -West alley (also known as Bridge
Street), Housing Authority of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, its successors
and assigns, all of the right,. title and interest of the City of Little Rock,
Arkansas, and of its inhabitants and the public generally, but reserving the
rights of public utilities, if any, in respect to said alley which is vacated,
abandoned and closed as aforesaid, the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, being
the adjoining landowner on the North boundary of said East -West alley located
within Block 1, Original City of Little Rock (also known as Bridge Street) but

which adjoining lands on the North are now located within and comprise the
right of way for a public street known as LaHarpe Boulevard.
Section 2. The rights now held by any public utility company, under
the laws of the State of Arkansas or under grants heretofore made by the City
of Little Rock, Arkansas, to use said East -West alley located within Block 1,
Original City of Little Rock, Arkansas (also known as Bridge Street), as des-
cribed in Section 1 above, for the location and operation of lines and facilities
for the furnishing of public utility services, shall not be abrogated, diminished
or changed by the enactment of this Ordinance, and utility easements, if any,
now in effect are specifically excepted from this closing.
Section 3. A copy d: this Ordinance, duly certified by the City Clerk,
shall be filed in the office of the Recorder of Pulaski County, Arkansas, and
recorded in the Deed Records of said County.
Section 4. That all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
