AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR ADDITIONAL POLICE
AND FIRE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL; APPROPRIATING
FUNDS FROM THE GENERAL FUND AND REVENUE SHA-
RING TRUST FUND TO BE USED FOR SALARIES AND
PURCHASING EQUIPMENT; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. Twenty -three (23) additional patrolmen are
hereby authorized for the Police Department and nine (9)
additional fire fighters are hereby authorized for the Fire
Department. Salary for each patrolman herein authorized for
the remainder of the fiscal year 1973 shall be $597.00 per
month for six (6) months and $615.00 per month for one (1)
month. Salary for each fire fighter herein authorized shall
be $539.00 per month for six (6) months and $556.00 per month
for one (1) month.
SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated from the unappro-
priated balance of the General Fund the sum of $127,409.00 of
which amount the sum of $96,531.00 is for salaries for the
police personnel herein authorized and the remainder of which
shall be used to provide the employee benefits and equipment
as follows:

23 @ $302.00 6,946.00
Weapons & Assoc. Equip.:
23 @ $116.00 2,668.00

Walkie Talkies - 5 @ 859.00 4,295.00
Shotguns: 5 @ $80.00 400.00
Maintenance (on vehicles) 8 @ $50.00 400.00

The sum of $30,512.00 is hereby appropriated from Federal
Revenue Sharing Trust Fund to be used for the purchase of eight
(8) Police vehicles, including shotgun rack, screen visabar,
and radial tires.
SECTION 3. The sum of $6,314.00 is hereby appropriated
from the unappropriated balance of the General Fund to be used
for the purchase of additional uniforms, badges, caps, bunker
suits, pants, helmets, boots, hospitalization and life insur-
ance for additional fire fighting personnel herein authorized.
Further, there is hereby appropriated from Federal Revenue
Sharing Trust Fund the sum of $113,000.00 to be used for the
purchase of four (4) 1,000 gallon pumper fire trucks in keeping
with the bids tendered the City of Little Rock on January 3, 1973
wherein International - Harvester of Little Rock, Arkansas is the
low bidder.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage.
