AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING FUNDS AS A LOAN TO
AND FOR OPERATING EXPENSES OF CENTRAL ARKANSAS
TRANSIT; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. The sum of $50,000.00 is hereby appropriated
from the unappropriated balance of the General Fund to be paid
to Metroplan as a loan for operating expenses of Central Arkan-
sas Transit. This loan is to be repaid from the first funds
received by Metroplan for Central Arkansas Transit.
SECTION 2. The City of Little Rock hereby reaffirms the
1972 contractual agreement between the cities of Little Rock
and North Little Rock and Pulaski County which among other
things committed the three governmental entities to fund the
deficit operating costs of the public transit system.
SECTION 3. The City of Little Rock shall immediately
arrange for and participate in a meeting with the city of
North Little Rock and Pulaski County to reexamine the 1972
contractual agreement referred to in Section 2 hereof for the
purpose of mutually agreeing to future plans and guidelines
to be applied in the operation and management for Central
Arkansas Transit in its goal to provide mass transit in Pulaski
County, Arkansas.
SECTION 4. An emergency is hereby declared to exist and
this Ordinance being necessary for the public peace, health
and welfare shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage.
