AN ORDINANCE AMENDING IN PART SECTION 13 -13 AND
ALL OF SECTION 13 -14 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
PERTAINING TO FIRE FIGHTING OUTSIDE THE CORPORATE
LIMITS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
SECTION 1. Subsection (c) of Section 13 -13 of the Code of
Ordinances pertaining to fire protection outside the city limits is
hereby amended to read as follows:
(c) Ready to serve fee. The applicant shall pay in advance
to the City Collector an annual ready to serve fee in an amount
which is the product of five (5) mills times the current assessed
evaluation of the property as reflected by the records of the
Pulaski County Tax Assessor.
SECTION 2. Subsection (d) of Section 13 -13 of the Code of
Ordinances pertaining to fire protection outside the city limits is
hereby amended to read as follows:
(d) Purpose and Intent. The sole purpose of this section is
to offer service to separate properties subject to fire damage, and
the grouping of one or more properties shall not be allowed for the
purpose of this section.
It is further declared to be the intent of the city to offer
fire fighting protection to industrial and commercial property only
and no alarm for residential property outside the city limits will
be answered by the fire department, and the chief of the fire depart-
ment is hereby expressly prohibited from taking fire fighting equip-
ment outside city limits except pursuant to the provisions of this
section and section 13 -14 of the Code of Ordinances; provided,
however, fire alarms to public buildings supported and maintained
by taxation and churches within the area shall be answered when in
the judgment of the chief of the fire department fire fighting
equipment is not needed for fire protection within the city.
SECTION 3. Section 13 -13 of the Code of Ordinances pertaining
to fire protection outside the city limits is hereby further amended

to add a subsection (h) thereto which shall read as follows:
(h) All existing agreements for limited fire fighting equip-
ment for property now or then contiguous to the city limits of the
City of Little Rock shall terminate no later than six (6) months
from the date of passage of this ordinance.
SECTION 4. Section 13 -14 of the Code of Ordinances pertaining
to mutual fire fighting aid is hereby amended to read as follows:
Sec. 13 -14. Same - Community aid restricted.
The chief of the fire department may provide mutual fire
fighting aid at the request of the chief of the fire department of
any incorporated city or town to alarms in such cities or towns.
Further, the chief of the fire department may approve written agree-
ments with communities not incorporated within a radius of ten (10)
miles of the corporate limits of Little Rock, provided such communi-
ties maintain in service quality fire fighting equipment capable of
mutually aiding the City of Little Rock.
SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage.
