HomeMy WebLinkAbout135541 RESOLUTION NO. 13,554 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER 4 INTO A CONTRACT WITH FISHNET SECURITY FOR THE 5 PURCHASE OF NEW FIREWALL HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE 6 MAINTENANCE FOR THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY 7 DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF FIFTY -TWO THOUSAND, 8 EIGHT HUNDRED FIVE AND 95/100 DOLLARS ($52,805.95), PLUS 9 APPLICABLE TAX; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 10 11 WHEREAS, the City's firewalls act as a virtual wall that separates the City's Network, which is a 12 trusted environment, from an non - trusted environment, such as the Internet, by controlling and regulating 13 the traffic between these two environments and aids in protecting unauthorized access to the City's 14 Network and its resources; and, 15 WHEREAS, a Request for Proposals was issued for the purchase of firewall hardware for the two (2) 16 primary firewalls and the firewall located at the Special Investigation Division of the Little Rock Police 17 Department as well as software maintenance; and 18 WHEREAS, FishNet Security, the only vendor to respond, submitted a bid in the total amount of 19 Fifty -Two Thousand, Eight Hundred Five and 95/100 Dollars ($52,805.95), plus applicable tax. 20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 21 OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 22 Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby authorizes the City Manager to enter into a contract with 23 FishNet Security to purchase new firewall hardware for three (3) firewalls, along with software 24 maintenance, in the total amount of Fifty -Two Thousand, Eight Hundred Five and 95/100 Dollars 25 ($52,805.95), plus applicable tax. 26 Section 2. Funds for the purchase of the hardware in the amount of Thirty-One Thousand, Two 27 Hundred Ninety Dollars ($31,290.00) plus tax will come from the City's new Operational Sales Tax, and 28 the maintenance for the software, which is Twenty -One Thousand, Five Hundred Fifteen and 95/100 29 Dollars ($21,515.95) plus tax, is available in existing software maintenance funds. 30 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 31 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 32 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and 33 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 34 resolution. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent with the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
