territory of Arkansas approved an act of the territorial
legislature of the State of Arkansas, which provided for
the incorporation of the Town of Little Rock, and,
hereas, at -the fira-t- elee-tion held- under -sa#d act
Dr. Matthew Cunningham was elected Mayor and Chas Caldwell,
David Holt, Benjamin Clemens and John :cLain where elected
Councilmen, and,
Whereas, the present City of Little Rock will have
rounded out a century- of its existance on November 7th, 1931,
and,
Whereas, it would be fitting to commemorate the 100th
anniversary of the day of the birth of Little Rock's Official
Municipal existence and to designate the spot on which the
-first tcwn Council of the City of Little Rock convened, and,
Whereas, that said spot has by the lapse of time
become uncertain.
Therefore, be it resolved that the Mayor of the City
of Little Rock be authorized to appoint a committee of four
from the City Council, together with a committee of not more
than three citizens as an honorary committee to investigate,
determine and report back to the City Council the result of
their investigation, with the idea in mind by the City
officially recommending some suitable observation of November
7th, 1931.
