HomeMy WebLinkAbout1264r- R E S O L U T I O N ?xFT-72REAS, an all wise providence has seen fit to remove from our midst our beloved and esteemed citizen and former City iltttorney, Ashley Cockrill, and =EREAS, Mr. Cockrill departed this life on April 4th, 19' 2 at the age of fifty -nine _-ears, and "'fT7171 ^. '+.Tr. Cockrill was connected with the City of Little Pock from 1902 to 1906 as City Attorney, and '7_ -TRy 5, he v,,as the legal advisor of the City of Little Rock for said period and advised the City upon many important matters and conducted many important law suits to a successful conclusion, and ?�;I'EREASI he had lived a very useful life in the Co �snunity and was part of its civic life, his great - grandfather, Chester Ashley, beirg one of the oricinal parties who laid out the City of Little Rock, and was instrumental in securing -the removal of the Seat of Government from the Post of Arkansas more than a century ago, and ihMEREAS, he had devoted three years of his life to the Public School Board of the City of Lit le Rock, and had always been an active church man, a leader in the Civic, social and legal life of the City and State; 1MREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the City of Little Rock has lost a valuable citizen, the Church a sincere member, t -e legal profession a wise counsellor, his family a devoted husband and father and his mother a dutiful and considerate son; that the City Council express to them through this resolution its sympathy, and as an evicence thereof that this resolution be spread upon the records of this Council, and further, that a properly attested copy of this resolution be presented to his wife and family and to his mother.
