A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE BOARD OF PUBLIC
AFFAIRS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS
TO GRANT TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNI-
VERSITY OF ARKANSAS AN =NSION OF TIME WITH-
IN WHICH TO BEGIN CONSTRUCTION UNDER CONTRACT
OF JULIE 4, 1931.
WHEREAS, by Ordinance No. 4862 of the City of
Little Rock, Arkansas, duly passed and approved on the 1st
day of June, 1931, the Board of Public Affairs of said City
of Little Rock was authorized and empowered to enter into
a contract with the Board of Trustees of the University of
Arkansas, which contract was set out in said ordinance and
contains the provision that it shall be null and void if,
within one year from its date, the work of construction shall
not have been started on a building to cost approximately
$275,000.00 for the School of Medicine for the University
of Arkansas, said building to be located within the corporate
limits of the City of Little Rock; and
'�MMI AS, due to the continued economic depression
the said Board of Trustees has been unable to sell an authoriz-
ed bond issue in order to secure the necessary money to begin
such construction; and
AREAS, it is to the best interests of the City
of Little Rock that said contract be carried out;
NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Resolved by the City Council
of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, that the Board of Public
Affairs of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, is hereby
authorized and empowered to extend, for a period of not more
than _year *, the time limit set out in their contract
of June 4, 1931, with the Board of Trustees of the University
of Arkansas, within which the said Board of Trustees shall be
required to begin the work of construction on a building to cost
approximately 4275,000.00 for the School of Medicine of the
University of Arkansas; said building to be located within the
corporate limits of the City of Little Rock.
And be it further resolved that all ordinances and
resolutions and parts of ordinances and resolutions in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed and set aside.
