HomeMy WebLinkAbout13523RESOLUTION NO. 13,523 4 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER 4 INTO A CONTRACT WITH UNITED FENCE AND CONSTRUCTION 5 COMPANY, INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF $67,445.00; AND FOR OTHER 6 PURPOSES. 7 8 WHEREAS, the Little Rock Zoo determined that work in three phases is needed to the parking lot it 9 acquired through the sale of the City's portion of Ray Winder Field, which will involve: 1) replacement 10 of the old, cracked asphalt with an environmentally friendly hydroseed base for parking; 2) the installa- 11 tion of fencing and four (4) gates; and 3) the addition of new concrete curbs and gutters; and, 12 WHEREAS, the Little Rock Zoo determined that the fencing and gate installation work is needed to 13 secure the parking lot; and, 14 WHEREAS, a Request for Proposals was issued separately for the three (3) phases of the work, and 15 WHEREAS, of the bids received for the fencing and gate installations, United Fence and Construc- 16 tion Company, Inc., was the lowest responsive and responsible bidder; 17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 18 OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 19 Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby awards a contract to United Fence and Construction Com- 20 pany, Inc. to provide fencing and gate installation services at the Zoo in the bid amount of Sixty-Seven 21 Thousand, Four Hundred and Thirty-Five Dollars ($67,435.00) plus 10% for contingencies if needed, for 22 a total maximum amount not to exceed Seventy-Four Thousand, One Hundred and Seventy-Eight Dollars 23 ($74,178.00), and authorizes the City Manager to enter into a contract, in a form acceptable to the City 24 Attorney, for such services. 25 Section 2. The funds for the contract are to come from the proceeds of the sale of the City's portion 26 of Ray Winder Field. 27 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 28 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or adju- 29 dication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution, which shall remain in full force and ef- 30 fect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 31 resolution. 32 Section 4. Repealer. All ordinances, resolutions, bylaws, and other matters inconsistent with this res- 33 olution are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
