HomeMy WebLinkAbout13502RESOLUTION NO. 13,502 A RESOLUTION SETTING THE DATE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING ON JUNE 5, 2012, ON A SEWER RATE INCREASE, THE ESTABLISHMENT OF SEWER CHARGES FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF CERTAIN COSTS INCURRED BY ELIGIBLE DOMESTIC CUSTOMERS FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF DEFECTIVE PRIVATE SEWER SERVICE LINES, AND THE ISSUANCE OF SEWER REVENUE BONDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF FINANCING EXTENSIONS, BETTERMENTS AND IMPROVEMENTS TO THE CITY'S SEWER SYSTEM. WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock, Arkansas (the "City ") owns a Sewer System (the "System "), which is operated by the Sanitary Sewer Committee of the City (the "Committee "); and WHEREAS, there has been introduced for consideration by the Board of Directors an ordinance increasing rates for the services of the System and the establishment of sewer charges for reimbursement of certain costs incurred by eligible domestic customers for the replacement of defective private sewer service lines; and WHEREAS, the Committee has determined that there is a need for a rate increase to operate and maintain the System in order for the System to provide quality sanitary sewer system service to the City and its inhabitants; and, WHEREAS, the Committee has determined that a monthly charge should be established to be paid by certain eligible domestic customers for the replacement of defective private sewer service lines; and WHEREAS, the Committee has determined that there is a need to issue sewer revenue bonds to finance the acquisition, construction and equipping of extensions, betterments and improvements to the System that are necessary in order for the System to provide quality sanitary sewer service to the City and its inhabitants; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: Section 1. That June 5, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. shall be the date and time for a public hearing on the sewer rate increase, the establishment of sewer charges for reimbursement of certain costs incurred by eligible domestic customers for the replacement of defective private sewer service lines, and the issuance [Page 1 of 21 of sewer revenue bonds for the purpose of financing extensions, betterments and improvements to the System.
