ORDINANCE NO. 14,126
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE
OF A DEMOLITION PERMIT TO DEMOLISH A
HOUSE LOCATED AT 1524 SCHILLER AVENUE;
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, on February 17, 1981, Ordinance Number 12,649
was amended to allow for a moratorium on the issuance of demo-
lition permits for structures within the boundaries of the
Central High School CDBG neighborhood which is an area bounded
by Wilbur D. Mills Freeway on the North, the Missouri - Pacific
Railroad on the West, Roosevelt Road on the South and High Street
on the East; and
WHEREAS, on March 4, 1981, by Ordinance No. 14,002, the
above - described moratorium was extended for a period of six
months; and
WHEREAS, on September 15, 1981, by Ordinance No. 14,117,
the above - described moratorium was extended for an additional
sixty days; and
WHEREAS, members of the Bullock Temple (CME) have requested
a demolition permit for a house located at 1524 Schiller Street
which is within the boundaries of the Central High School CDBG
neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing has been held before the Board
of Directors at which the Board considered the needs of the
individual property owners or Bullock Temple (CME) as against the
public interest in preserving the status quo of the Central High
School neighborhood until such time as the area, or some portion
of the area, is finally included in the Little Rock Historic
District or it is determined that the area should not be included
in the Historic District; and
WHEREAS, at the public hearing the applicants and all
other interested parties were given a right to be heard.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. It is hereby found that it is in the best
interests of both the public and the owners of the house located
at 1524 Schiller for a demolition permit to be issued for that
structure.
Section 2. The issuance of a demolition permit is hereby
authorized for the house located at 1524 Schiller in the City
of Little Rock.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval.
