HomeMy WebLinkAbout134091 RESOLUTION NO. 13,409 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER 4 INTO A CONTRACT WITH VERMEER MID - SOUTH, INC., FOR THE 5 PURCHASE OF ONE (1) HORIZONTAL GRINDER PUBLIC WORKS 6 SOLID WASTE SERVICES, UTILIZING THE HOUSTON - GALVESTON 7 AREA COUNCIL COOPERATIVE CONTRACT; AND FOR OTHER 8 PURPOSES. 9 10 WHEREAS, the current horizontal grinder utilized by Public Works Solid Waste Services is twelve 11 (12) years old and has had excessive maintenance costs and down time in recent years; and, 12 WHEREAS, the current equipment is no longer capable of keeping pace with the incoming yard 13 waste so as to ensure compliance with ADEQ regulations; and, 14 WHEREAS, subsequent to several manufacturer demonstrations and a review of purchasing options 15 and availability, it has been determined that the Vermeer HG8000 is the machine best suited to meet the 16 needs of the Public Works Solid Waste Services and that one such machine is available for immediate 17 delivery, at a cost of Seven Hundred Three Thousand, Five Hundred Twenty -Three Dollars 18 ($703,523.00), utilizing the HGAC Cooperative contract; 19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 20 OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 21 Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby authorizes the City Manager to enter into a contract with 22 Vermeer Mid - South, Inc., for the purchase of one (1) horizontal grinder, utilizing the Houston - Galveston 23 Area Council Cooperative Contract, for the total amount of Seven Hundred Three Thousand, Five 24 Hundred Twenty -Three Dollars ($703,523.00). 25 Section 2. Funds for this purchase are allocated from 2011 Short-Term Financing. 26 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 27 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 28 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and 29 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 30 resolution. 31 Section 4. Repealer.
