HomeMy WebLinkAbout13292I RESOLUTION NO. 13,292 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE AN INCREASE IN THE 4 CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AMOUNT FOR RUFFIN 5 CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC., FOR THE 9TH STREET 6 EXTENSION PROJECT; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 WHEREAS, it is desirable to have a four (4) -lane arterial street linking the Interstate 30 corridor to the area north of the Little Rock National Airport to provide for the transportation and economic development needs of the area and the extension of 9th Street from Bond Street to the east and northeast to connect with 6th Street is the most cost effective means to provide the needed arterial connection; and WHEREAS, Ruffin Construction Company, Inc., submitted the lowest responsive, responsible bid that met specifications and was awarded a contract for construction; and WHEREAS, an increase in the authorized contract amount is needed to address poor soil foundation conditions encountered during the course of construction; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to increase the contract amount for Ruffin Construction Company, Inc., for construction of the 91h Street Extension project up to $1,779,168.00 ($1,423,334.00 bid amount, plus 25% contingencies). Section 2. Funding for the contract Funding for the project is available from grants from the Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration, the Arkansas Department of Economic Development and the Airport Enhancement Fund administered by the Little Rock National Airport Commission and the City of Little Rock. Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the resolution. Section 4. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent with the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency. Section 5. This resolution will be in full force and effect from and after the date of its adoption.
