3 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 8 OF THE LITTLE ROCK
4 CODE OF ORDINANCES, PROVIDE FOR THE ADOPTION BY
5 REFERENCE OF THE 2010 ARKANSAS MECHANICAL CODE WITH
6 ARKANSAS AMENDMENTS AND 2010 REVISIONS; AND FOR OTHER
7 PURPOSES.

9 WHEREAS, Little Rock, Arkansas Rev. Code 8 -21(1) and 8- 474(C) adopts by reference the 2010
10 edition of the "Arkansas Mechanical Code" with Arkansas Amendments and 2010 Revisions and
11 Appendice "A" published by the International Code Council, Falls Church, Virginia; and
12 WHEREAS, new amended 2010 editions of these Codes have been published by the International
13 Code Council and adopted by the State of Arkansas as the Arkansas Mechanical Code, 2010 Edition; and
14 WHEREAS, the City has complied with Arkansas Code Ann. 14 -55- 207(1987) by publishing a
15 notice of intent to adopt these technical codes by reference in a paper of general circulation within the
16 municipality and three (3) copies of codes have been available for inspection in the City Clerk's Office
17 for the public prior to their adoption; and
18 WHEREAS, this Ordinance amendment is necessary to update the City Code and authorize the use

of the 2010 edition within the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. 8 -2 of Little Rock, Arkansas Rev. Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
(1) The "2010 Arkansas Mechanical Code" with Arkansas Amendments and 2010
Revisions with Appendice "A ".
Section 2. 8 -474 of Little Rock, Arkansas Rev. Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
(C) The "2010 Arkansas Mechanical Code with Arkansas Amendments and 2010
Revisions and Appendice "A" is adopted by reference.
(D) In the event of a conflict between the publications in subsections (A), (B) or (C), the
more stringent provisions shall govern.
(E)
Notwithstanding the provisions of Sections (A), (B), and (C) above, the City, consistent
with other provisions of state law, shall set the job qualification for its employees. No

I Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this provision are hereby repealed to
2 the extent of the conflict.
3 Section 4. Effective date of this Code shall be January 1, 2011.
