HomeMy WebLinkAbout203382010062692 Received: 10/712010 10:11:07 A Recorded: 10107120113 10 :17:58 AM Filed & Recorded in official Records of PAT O'BRIEN, Pt3isa SKI COUNTY CiRCl71T1CC3UNTY CLERK 1 ORDINANCE NO. 20,338 Pees $20.00 2 3 AN ORDINANCE TO • DISPENSE WITH THE REQUIREMENT OF 4 COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO 5 ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH MOTOROLA, INC., AS THE SOLE 6 SOURCE PROVIDER, FOR THE PURCHASE OF A MOTOROLA GENWATCH 7 3 BASE CONTROLLER SYSTEM IN THE AMOUNT OF EIGHTY -SIX 8 THOUSAND, SIXTY -SIX AND 28/100 DOLLARS (586,066.28); AND FOR 9 OTHER PURPOSES. 10 11 WHEREAS, the Little Rock Police Department is in critical need of replacement of the Motorola 12 GenWatch 3 base controller system which was recently severely damaged in a lightning strike; and 13 WHEREAS, this system controls all radio non - verbal commands, including the Emergency button, 14 serves as the database manager for all radio functions, and Central Communications cannot add, re- assign 15 or disable any radio device without this system; and 16 WHEREAS, since Motorola, Inc., is the sole supplier of radio equipment for the City of Little Rock 17 and there is an urgent need to replace the equipment damaged by the lightning strike, competitive bidding 18 should be waived and the contract awarded to Motorola, Inc., for the purchase of a replacement Motorola 19 GenWatch 3 Base Controller, in the amount of Eighty -Six Thousand, Sixty -Six and 28/100 Dollars 20 ($86,066.28); 21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 22 OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 23 Section 1. The Board of Directors finds that, for the reasons expressed above, competitive bidding 24 should be dispensed with in the replacement of the Motorola GenWatch 3 Base Controller system. 25 Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to dispense with competitive bidding and to enter 26 into a contract with Motorola; Inc., for the purchase of the Motorola GenWatch 3 Base Controller system 27 in the amount of Eighty -Six Thousand, Sixty -Six and 28/100 Dollars ($86,066.28). 28 Section 3. Funds for this purchase are available from the Police Equipment Special Projects 29 Account. 30 Section 4. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, =k 31 phrase, or word of this ordinance is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such .; 3 32 declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the ordinance which, shall 33 remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invald'"or 34 unconstitutional were not originally a part of the ordinance.
