AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 8 OF THE
1988 REVISED LITTLE ROCK CODE OF
ORDINANCES; TO PROVIDE FOR THE ADOPTION
BY REFERENCE OF THE 2006 ARKANSAS
PLUMBING CODE WITH 2006 REVISIONS; AND
FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Little Rock, Arkansas Rev. Code 8- 474A(a)(1) adopts by reference
the 2006 Edition of the Arkansas Plumbing Code with Appendixes, "A ", B, C, D, E, G, H
and 2006 Revisions; and
WHEREAS, the City has complied with Arkansas Code Ann. � 14 -55 -207
(1987) by publishing a notice of intent to adopt these technical codes by reference in a
paper of general circulation within the municipality and three copies of codes have been
available for inspection in the City Clerk's office for the public prior to their adoption;
and
WHEREAS, this Ordinance amendment is necessary to update the City Code and
authorize the use of the 2006 Edition within the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF
DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. This section of Little Rock, Arkansas Rev. Code 4 8 -474 (1988) is
hereby amended to read as follows:
(a) The following publications are adopted by reference:
(1) The "2006 Arkansas Plumbing Code" with Appendixes "A ", B, C, D,
E, G, H and 2006 Revisions.
(2) Not withstanding the provisions of (1) above, the City consistent with
other provisions of State law shall set the job qualifications for its
employees. No job qualifications contained in the 2006 AR Plumbing
Code are adopted in any form whatsoever.
SECTION 2. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with this
provision are hereby repealed to the extent of the conflict.
SECTION 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item,
sentence, clause, phrase, or word of this ordinance is declared or adjudged to be invalid or
unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of
this ordinance, which shall remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or
adjudged invalid or unconstitutional was not originally a part of this ordinance.
SECTION 4. Code Application. Permits obtained prior to the effective date of
this ordinance will be enforced under the previous adopted code till final disposition of
the permit.
SECTION 5. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same
that are inconsistent with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed to the
extent of such inconsistency.
SECTION 6. Effective date of this Ordinance shall be September 1, 2008.
