3 AN ORDINANCE TO DISPENSE WITH THE REQUIREMENT OF COMPETITIVE
4 BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT
5 IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND, EIGHT HUNDRED SIXTY -ONE
6 AND 67/100 DOLLARS ($100,861.67) WITH MOTOROLA, INC. AS THE SOLE
7 SOURCE PROVIDER FOR TWENTY (20) PORTABLE POLICE RADIOS; AND FOR
8 OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, the Police Department has requested approval to purchase twenty (20) Motorola
portable police radios to supply the current recruit class and for a back -up supply for emergency
situations where additional personnel are required, and
WHEREAS, competitive bidding should be waived and the contract awarded to Motorola, Inc. as the
sole source provider of radio equipment for the Police Department as Motorola is the only equipment
that is fully and reliably compatible with our current radio system infrastructure.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. The Board of Directors finds that competitive bidding should be dispensed with in
the purchase of twenty (20) portable police radios to supply the current recruit class and to provide
back -up radios for emergency situations.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to dispense with competitive bidding and to
enter into a contract with Motorola, Inc. for twenty (20) portable police radios in the amount of One
Hundred Thousand, Eight Hundred Sixty -one and 67/100 Dollars ($100,861.67).
Section 3. Funds for this purchase are available from the Police Equipment Special Project
Funds.
Section 4. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause,
phrase, or word of this ordinance is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such
declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the ordinance which shall remain
in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not
originally a part of the ordinance.
Section 5. Repealer. All ordinances and resolutions, and parts thereof, which are in conflict
with any provision of this ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
