E AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A WHOLESALE CURB MARKET IN THE
'TY OF LITTLE ROCK,.PROVIDING RULES FOR THE REGULATION THEREOF,
OREATING TA's POSITION OF MARKET MASTER, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSIS.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LITTLE ROCK:
Section 1. That a wholesale curb market is 4eq�IbuAll-
ed in the City of Little Rock for the purpose of providing a place
where farmers or gardeners, raising their own produce may ex-
pose the same for sale. Said market shall be located on the
streets of Little Rock as follows; beginning at the alley between
Center and Spring Streets on the north side of Sixth Street, ,
thence west to the intersection of Sixth and Spring Streets, thence
north Fifty (50) feet on Spring Street, thence west across Spring
Street to the west side thereof, thence south to the intersection
of Sixth and Spring Streets, thence west on Sixth Street to the
alley between Spring and Broadway Streets, thence south to the
efte c�`f Sixth Street, thence East to the intersection of
Sixth and Spring Streets, thence south to a point Fifty (50) feet
south of the intersection of Seventh and Spring Streets, thence
east across Spring Street to the east side thereof, thence north
to the intersection of Seventh and Spring Streets, thence east
on Seventh Street to the alley, thence north across Seventh Street
to the north side thereof, thence west to Spring Street, thence
north to Sixth.Street, thence East On Sixth Street to the point
of" beginning of said market area at the alley between Center,
Ad .Spring Streets.
Section 2. The streets-herein designated as the a it , eA r
said market shall be closed to traffic from Three A.M. to Seven
A.M.

Section 3: The position of market master is hereby ore'

and said market master shall be appointed by the G.tx.Hea`fIcer.
He shall have complete control and management of said market and
his duties shall be to carry out and put in force the rules

governing said market as set forth in this ordinance and he shall

be paid a salary at the rate of .9 S_ per month. The salary
of the market master and all other expenses of conducting said
market shalt be paid from the fees to be derived from said market,
as hereinafter provided.
Section 4. Said market space shall be divided off in Eight
(9) feet stalls each stall to be 'numbered. Said stalls shall be
rented
,to gardeners or farmers desiring to sell their produce �t
said market, by the market master at the rate of`j'.'S0 per month
per stall, payable in advance after such person shall have made
written application to the market master and said application has
been approved. Farmers or gardeners not having: a. stall rented by
the month shall make out the application above referred to and upon
the payment of a charge of T 3�- Five Cente► per day shall be
assigned to any stall available. No stall shall be rented to more
than one person. No stall shall be rented permanently for less than
a three months period. A stall may not be sold, sub -let, transfered
or assigned by the person renting same. Stalls rented by.the month_
shall not be held open for more than One Hour after the opening of
the market and upon the failure of the renter to occupy same within
that period the market master may assign said stall to other with-
out refund to the renter for that day.
Section 5. Th6jmarket shall open for the purpose of buying
or selling at Four A.M. and shall close promptly at Seven A.M. All
persons renting stalls will be allowed on the market One Hour be-
fore opening time for the purpose of arranging their produce for
sale or display. Produce may be displayed in front of a truck
or,Vagon but shall not extend to or iwon the sidewalk of any str4qt.
Section 6. The wholesaleicurb market herein establisha;l
is primarily for the use of farmers or gardeners selling produce
_Which they have raised.Et is understood however that peddlers,
hucksters or brokers of produce,.whether growers of produce or

not shall be Mowed to rent stalls in said market at the same
rates as herein set forth,provided they have paid a privilege
tax to the , City Collector for said peddling, huckstering or
brokering of produce of Five($5) Dollars per month or Fifty ($50)
Dollars per annum. Any such person renting a stall on said market
shall abide by all the rules and regulations of the market.

and the ordinances of the City of Little Rook and upon conviction
for the violation of any of said laws the market master may cancel
the stall contract had with said person and may refuse to issue:._
a permit for said person to operate in said market.
Section 8. All receipts for payment of stall rental.shall
be issued by the market master and countersigned by the City Col-
lector.
Section 9. It shall be the duty of the City Collector to
make an accounting of revenues and expenditures of said market to
ty, ouncil -once each month.
Section 1. This ordinance shall be in force from and after
date of its passage.
