HomeMy WebLinkAbout4462ORDINANCE NO. 4462. -AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING THE CONSTRUCTION OF SIDEWALKS ON HILLCREST AVENUE FROM PROSPECT AVENUE TO BEECH STRnET, AND FOR OThER PURPOSES. Be It Ordained by the City Council of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas: Section 1. That the owner, or owners, respectively, of any property abutting on Hiilcrest Avenue from Prospect Avenue to Beech street, be and they are hereby required to build within sixty(60) days from the passage of this ordinance and to maintain a concrete siaewalk where the same abutts upon any of the above streets, between the points mentioned, of the kind and materials, ana in accordance with the rules and spec- ifications heretofore or hereafter prescribed by resolution or ordinance and subject to the approval of the City Engineer, or his duly appointed agent. Section 2. That sidewalks shall be built five(5 9 feet wide and on the proper grade as established heretofore or hereafter by ordinance. Section 3. Upon failure or refusal of said owner, or owners, of said property to comply with the provisions of this ordinance in reference to building, rebuilding, maintain- ing, or repairing of sidewalks in the manner and in the time specified herein, the Board of Public Affairs may contract with some suitable person, or persons, for the construction, or re- f pair of anZ� said sidewalks in the manner set out in Aim Ordi- nance No. 1003 passed on the 25th day of June, 1903; that said Ordinance No. 1003 is hereby amended so as to include therein the territory herein described, and for that purpose all its Provisions that are not in conflict, or inconsistent, with th4 provisions of this ordinance are hereby made and declared appli- cable to the territory herein described. Section 4. In addition to the civil proceedings provided for herein, any owner, or owners, of property abutting on the specified parts of the above named streets, between the points Page 2 - Ordinance No. 4462. named, who shall fail or refuse to comply with the provisions of this ordinance within sixty(60) days from its passage, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof in police court, shall be fined in the sum of $25.00, and each day that such failure or refusal is continued shall constitute a separate pffense and shall be punished accordingly. Section 5. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in con- flict herewith are hereby repealed, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage. Passed: July 29, 1929.
