ORDINANCE CA69.
`AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE CONSTRUCTION OF MOVING PICTURE THEATRES�
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK:
SECTION 1. No motion picture machine oftll be installed, operated or
maintained in azW building that does not abut directly on a street and all motion
picture exhibition rooms shall be provided with at least two separate exits, one of

outlets On the street or alley. No exit shall be less -than 5 feet in width.
BEOTION R. If an unobstructed exit to the street or alley cannot be provided
in the rear of such buildings, as herein speoifled, either an open court or fire proof
passage or corridor, shall be provided from the rear exit to the street front, of at
leant 4 feet in width for oxhllbitiou rooms accommodating 50 persons or less and 6
inches additional for each additional 50 persons accommodated by such room. Such
a} passage. Wall be constructed of fireproof material and shall be at least 10 feet high
j in the elear. The walls forming such passage shall be at least 6 inches thick of brick
or other approved fireproof material, and if there be a basement the wall on the auditor-

ium side shall either extend 1 foot below the cellar bottom or may be carried in the
cellar on iron columns and girders properly fireproofed. The ceiling of said passage,
and, if there be a basement, the floor, shall be of fire proof construction. Said

j passages and .exits to the street shall be used for no other purposes except for exit
and entrance, and shall be kept free and clear.
SECTION S. All doors shall be arranged to swing outward and shall be provided

with fastenings that can be opened readily from the inside without the use of keys or
effort. Such doors shall hotlbe looked when the room is opened to the public. Every
exit door -way leading from exhibition rooms shall have over the same, on the auditorium
side, the word 'fzit" in letters at least 6 inches high or an illuminated sign with
lettersf the :eame.heiggth. Thare illuminated sips are not provided there shall be dot
heat one green light over each exit door -way. Lights used in marking exits in passage
ways shall not depend upon or be controlled by wires, switches or fuses located in any
roam, Goajoartment, booth or onolosuro containing a motion picture machine, but shall be
controlled from the ticket office. .
SECTION 4. This ordinance being necessary for the immediate preservation of
the public peace, health and safety an emergency is hereby declared and same shall %We
effect and be in force immediately after it passage.
