3 A RESOLUTION TO COMMEND THE WORLD OF THE PHARAOHS EXHIBIT
4 AT THE ARKANSAS ARTS CENTER; AND, TO EXPRESS APPRECIATION AND
5 GRATITUDE FOR THE GENERORISTY OF WARREN AND HARRIET
6 STEPHENS FOR MAKING THIS EXHIBIT POSSIBLE FOR THE CITIZENS OF
7 LITTLE ROCK, AND FOR THE CITIZENS OF ARKANSAS; AND FOR OTHER
s PURPOSES.

10 WHEREAS, the Arkansas Arts Center has long been a valuable source of artistic, cultural, dramatic
11 and educational service to the citizens of Little Rock, Arkansas, and to the citizens of the entire State
12 throughout its existence; and,
13 WHEREAS, the Arts Center has often been able to provide outstanding exhibits, such as the exhibit
14 of Andy Warhol media, for its patrons and visitors; and,
15 WHEREAS, the World of the Pharaohs: Treasures of Egypt Revealed exhibit will be available for
16 viewing from September 25, 2009 to July 5, 2010; and,
17 WHEREAS, this exhibit provides exploration of ancient Egypt through art and artifacts that are more
is than 3000 years old, and will include a majestic colossus of Ramses the Great, Egyptian art, jewelry,
19 statues, sculptures, and funerary artifacts; and,
20 WHEREAS, in conjunction with the exhibit there will be educational programs such as the August
21 29, 2009, lecture by William H. Peck, an internationally renowned Egyptologist, and a teacher's academy
22 for educators within the State; and,
23 WHEREAS, this exceptional exhibit would not be possible without the generosity of many, but
24 particularly the unparalleled philanthropic assistance of Warren and Harriet Stephens;
25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
26 OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:

I Section 1. The Board of Directors gives its warm thanks and praise to Warren and Harriet Stephens
2 for their efforts and generosity that make the World of the Pharaohs: Treasures of Egypt Revealed
3 available as an exhibit, and a source of educational programs, to the citizens of Arkansas and the patrons
4 of the Arkansas Arts Center.
