3 A RESOLUTION TO AWARD A CONTRACT TO CARSON Et ASSOCIATES, INC. IN
4 THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF $2,067,000 TO CONSTRUCT A PENGUIN EXHIBIT
5 FOR THE LITTLE ROCK ZOO; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER
6 INTO A CONTRACT WITH CARSON Et ASSOCIATES, INC. FOR SUCH SERVICES;
7 AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, with overwhelming public support, the Zoo has planned a major new exhibit, an
African Penguin Exhibit, which has now been designed by MESA Landscape Architects, Inc., and
WHEREAS, the City recently issued and advertised a Request for Proposals for construction of
the African Penguin Exhibit and Carson Et Associates, Inc. submitted the lowest responsible bid, and
WHEREAS, Carson &t Associates, Inc. was selected to perform the construction work and it
represents that it is capable of and desirous of performing the needed services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
ROCK, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby awards a construction contract to Carson &
Associates, Inc. to construct a penguin exhibit at the Little Rock Zoo in an amount not to exceed Two
Million, Sixty -Seven Thousand Dollars ($2,067,000.00). The City Manager is authorized to execute a
contract with Carson $ Associates, Inc. for such construction work in a form acceptable to the City
Attorney and with the contract to be signed within thirty (30) days.
Section 2. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause,
phrase, or word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such
declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution, which shall remain
in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not
originally a part of the resolution.
Section 3. Repealer. All ordinances, resolutions, bylaws, and other matters inconsistent with
this resolution are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
