3 A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE SUPPORT OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,
4 ARKANSAS, FOR THE VARIOUS BRANCHES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY,
5 EXPRESSING APPRECIATION FOR THE SERVICE PROVIDED BY ALL MEMBERS OF
6 THE ARMED FORCES; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

8 WHEREAS, the Board of Directors has become aware of a recent incident in the City of Berkley,
9 California wherein the Berkley City Council expressed a desire for the United States Marine Corps to
10 abandon its recruiting efforts in that city, and
11 WHEREAS, in another recent incident the mayor of Toledo, Ohio, requested that the Marine Corps
12 cease conducting an urban warfare exercise in that city, and
13 WHEREAS, the Board believes that the members of all branches of the United States military
14 should be aware and reassured that the City of Little Rock supports them and is willing to assist them
15 in any manner possible.
16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
17 ROCK, ARKANSAS:
18 Section 1. The City of Little Rock expresses and declares its complete and unequivocal support for
19 all branches of the United States military and further declares its appreciation for the service provided
20 by the members of the armed services throughout the world. The City also wishes to make known that
21 all branches of the United State military are always welcome in the City at any time for any purpose
22 necessary to conduct their missions, whether recruiting or training.
23 Section 2. The City Clerk is directed to provide a copy of this resolution, upon passage, to each
24 member of the Arkansas Congressional delegation and to the appropriate offices and officials of the
25 United States Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard.
26 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause,
27 phrase, or word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such
28 declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain
29 in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not
30 originally a part of the resolution.
31 Section 4. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent
32 with the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
