CODE § 2 -116 (1988) 4 TO COMPORT WITH STATE LAW REQUIREMENTS AS TO MAYORAL COM- 5 PENSATION; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. n 7 WHEREAS, on August 14, 2007, as authorized under Ark. Code Ann. § 14 -47 -140 (West 8 2007), a referendum was held for voters to decide whether to grant additional duties and pow - 9 ers to the Mayor, and, as a consequence, to provide the Mayor with certain benefits and salary; 10 and 11 WHEREAS, the voters of the City approved the provision of additional powers and duties for 12 the Mayor, and 13 WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend City ordinances, codified as Little Rock, Ark., Rev. Code § 14 2 -116 (1988), to comport with the mandates of state statute, 15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF 16 LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 17 Section 1. Little Rock, Ark., Rev. Code § 2 -116 (1988) is amended to read as follows: 18 The mayor and members of the board of directors shall be compensated as follows: 19 (1) (a) The mayor shall be compensated with a salary and benefit package com- 20 parable to the highest- ranking municipal official. 21 (b) The initial salary and benefit package for the mayor shall apply from 22 and after October 15, 2007, unless otherwise amended. 23 (2) Each member of the board of directors, other than the mayor, shall re- 24 ceive an annual salary of twelve thousand dollars ($12,000.00) annually. 25 (3) Payments of salaries, or applicable benefits, shall be in the same manner 26 as all city employees. 27 Section 2. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, 28 phrase, or word of this ordinance is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such 29 declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the ordinance which shall 30 remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitu- 31 tional was not originally a part of the ordinance. 32 Section 3. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are incon- 33 sistent with the provisions of this ordinance, including by not limited to Little Rock, Ark., Ordi- Ordinance [PAGE 1 OF 21 Amending City ordinances as to the salary of the Mayor 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 nance No. 17,363 (December 17, 1996), and Little Rock, Ark., Ordinance No. 16,498 (September 29, 1993), are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
