BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The following named person is hereby appointed as a member of the Little Rock Housing Authority: Glen Nishimura, appointed to serve the unexpired term left vacant by Ron Copeland, said term expiring on June 30, 2011. SECTION 2. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption. Nishimura has been the Senior Program Director for the MidSou h Delta rogram of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) since 1 South Delta LISC is an ambitious rural economic development program designed by LISC in collaboration with the Foundation for the Mid South. It purpose is to help nonprofit Community Development Corporations (CDCs) transform chronically distressed rural counties and parishes in the Mississippi River Delta of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi into healthy communities. Since its inception in April 1995, Mid South Delta LISC has provided training, technical assistance and financial resources to more than 53 CDCs operating in the Delta regions of Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Working with LISC, these CDCs have built 3,106 units of affordable housing and nearly 152,000 square feet of commercial space. LISC and its resource partners have invested almost $11.4 million in grants and loans in CDCs in the Delta, resulting in more than $181 million in development activity. Mid South Delta LISC is headquartered in Greenville, MS with satellite offices in Tallulah, LA. Nishimura was formerly with the LISC program in Little Rock, Arkansas dand a Program Director for Rural LISC in Washington, DC where he p managed the training, information and public policy programs for a new, national, rural initiative. He has more than thirty years of leadership experience with for rof it Reform, organizations, including as Executive Director of American Legal Executive Director of Arkansas Consumer Research, and as Legislative Representative for the Consumer Federation of America. From 1991 -1993 he served in the Peace Corps in the Solomon Islands, working in remote rural areas helping villagers develop small businesses and address development issues in a rapidly changing economic environment. Nishimura holds a BA in Mathematical Economics from Brown University in Providence, RI. The Chairperson called the Special Session to order and upon roll call the following Commissioners answered present: Commissioners present: Copeland, Gray, Sheffield, and Walker The Chairperson thereupon declared a quorum present and the regular meeting called to order. Commissioner Gra introduced the following Resolution and moved for its adoption. RESOLUTION NO: #6336 NOMINATION OF GLENN NISHIMURA AS COMMISSIONER Commissioner Walker seconded the Motion. The following vote was recorded as follows: "A es"- Commissioner Copeland, Gray, Walker, and Sheffield / "Nays" - None. The Chairperson Thereupon declared the motion carried and the motion carried. There being no further business to properly come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned.
