3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO RENEW THE
4 CONTRACT FOR EMPLOYEE DENTAL INSURANCE WITH DELTA DENTAL PLAN
5 OF ARKANSAS FOR TWO ADDITIONAL YEARS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

7 WHEREAS, Delta Dental Plan of Arkansas has submitted a proposal to renew the existing dental
8 care policy for City employees for 2008, for a six (6) percent increase effective January 1, 2008, with a
9 two -year rate guarantee, and
10 WHEREAS, the Request for Proposal issued in September, 2002, included a provision to allow
11 renewal of the policy at the City's option based on premium and service provided, and
12 WHEREAS, Delta Dental Plan of Arkansas has been the provider of coverage since the inception of
13 the City's program to provide dental care coverage for City Employees and on each occasion of bidding
14 has offered the best combination of coverage and premium rates.
15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
16 ROCK, ARKANSAS:
17 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to renew for the years 2008 and 2009 an agreement
18 with Delta Dental Plan of Arkansas to provide dental insurance coverage for eligible City employees at
19 a six (6) percent increase, with a two -year premium rate guarantee and no change in benefit structure.
20 Section 2. Funds for the cost of this coverage will be included as a line item in the 2008 City

budget.
Section 3. Severability. In the event any portion of this ordinance is declared or adjudged to be
invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of
this ordinance, which shall remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged
invalid or unconstitutional was not originally a part of this ordinance.
Section 4. Repealer. All ordinances and resolutions, and parts thereof, which are in conflict with
any provision of this resolution are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
