CODE §§ 2- 6 281 TO -284 (1988) TO PROVIDE FOR THREE 7 ADDITIONAL AT -LARGE COMMISSION POSITIONS 8 IN THE PLACE OF THE HIGHER EDUCATION 9 POSITION, THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND 10 HUMAN SERVICES POSITION, AND THE PARENTS 11 OF CITY STUDENTS POSITION; AND FOR OTHER 12 PURPOSES. 13 14 WHEREAS, Little Rock, Ark., Ordinance No. 16,730 (August 16, 1994) 15 ( "LRO 16,730 ") created the Little Rock Education Commission to bring together 16 the resources of the City of Little Rock, businesses, neighborhoods and citizens as 17 advocates for quality education for all children, and 18 WHEREAS, On April 8, 1999, the Education Commission voted to provide 19 for three additional at -large Commission positions in the place of the higher 20 education position, the Department of Health and Human Services position, and 21 the parents of City Students position, 22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF 23 DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARI(A.NSAS: 24 Section 1. Section 3 (a) of LRO 16,730, codified as Little Rock, Ark., Rev. 25 Code § 2 -283 (a) (1988) is hereby amended to read as follows: 26 (a) The education commission shall consist of fifteen (15) members to 27 be selected as follows: 28 (1) One (1) member of the Little Rock school board; 29 (2) One (1) member of the Little Rock board of directors; 30 (3) One (1) business representative from the Little Rock chamber 31 of commerce; 32 (4) One (1) person selected to represent city neighborhood 33 associations; 34 (5) One (1) person selected to represent the parent/teachers 35 association council; 36 (6) One (1) person selected to represent city students; 1 (7) One (1) person selected to represent the principal's roundtable; 2 (8) One (1) person selected to represent private schools within 3 the city; 4 (9) One (1) person selected to represent early childhood educators; 5 (10) One (1) person selected to represent Ne \v Futures; 6 (11) Five (5) persons selected at- large. 7 Section 2. Severability. In the event any section, subsection, subdivision, 8 paragraph, subparagraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or word of this ordinance 9 is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 10 adjudication shall not affect the remaining provisions of this ordinance, as if such 11 invalid or unconstitutional provision was not originally a part of this ordinance. 12 13 PASSED: April 20, 1999 14 15 ATTEST: 16 17 t�Af 18 Ro hie Hancock, ity Clerk 19 20 APPROVED AS TO FORM: 0 22 Thomas M.
