ORDINANCE NO. 17.440
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND LITTLE ROCK, ARK.,
REV. CODE § 2- 242(6) (1988), TO PROVIDE THAT THE
CITY MANAGER MAY ONLY APPROVE CERTAIN
CONTRACTS FOR GOODS, BUT NOT FOR SERVICES;
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, the City has previously granted authority to the City Manager to approve all
contracts under fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) without having to seek formal approval of the Board
of Directors; and
WHEREAS, that this policy is good for the purchase of goods and certain services, but is
not appropriate for the selection of professional services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Little Rock, Ark., Rev. Code § 2- 242(b) (1988) is hereby amended to read
as follows:
(b) In the event the net price to be awarded on any contract or purchase of
goods or services, other than professional services, is less than fifty
thousand dollars ($50,000) the city manager shall be authorized to award
the contract or purchase without transmitting the bids to the board of
directors, provided that contracts for all professional services shall be
transmitted to the board of directors for final approval.
